How it works

Three steps, and one of them is us doing the work.

There is no survey, no callback, no "one of our advisors will be in touch". You are not a lead. You are someone buying a boiler.

1

Answer fifteen questions

Boiler type, flue, bathrooms, radiators. Nothing you need to go up a ladder for. It takes about ninety seconds and you can go back and change anything.

2

See your real price

Not a range, not a "from", not an estimate. The actual number, with every one of your answers printed next to it so you can see exactly what it assumes.

3

Pick a day. We fit it.

Our engineer, our van, our name on the certificate. Old boiler taken away, warranty registered, floor swept, kettle probably used.

Which of these is in your house?

It is the single biggest thing that moves your price, and most people genuinely do not know. Click through the four — you will recognise yours in about five seconds.

One box on the wall, and nothing else anywhere.

No hot water cylinder in the airing cupboard and no tanks in the loft. Water is heated the instant you turn a tap. About two thirds of the homes we work in already have one.

How to tellThere is nothing in the airing cupboard and nothing in the loft.
No uplifta like-for-like swap is the simplest job we do
210 L 60°C

A boiler on the wall and a cylinder in a cupboard.

The boiler heats a coil inside a hot water cylinder, which stores it at mains pressure. This is the right answer for a home where two bathrooms genuinely get used at the same time.

How to tellThere is a cylinder in the airing cupboard, but the loft is empty.
No uplifta like-for-like swap is the simplest job we do
210 L 60°C

A cylinder downstairs and tanks up in the loft.

The oldest of the four layouts, sometimes called conventional or open-vent. A big cold tank and a small feed-and-expansion tank sit in the loft and gravity does the rest.

How to tellThere is a cylinder AND one or two tanks in the loft.

Hidden in the fireplace, behind the gas fire.

Fitted in waves through the seventies and eighties, usually running at around 60% efficiency against a modern boiler's 92%. It is the biggest job we do, and the messiest.

How to tellThere is a gas fire in the living room and a cylinder upstairs.

The boilers

Three manufacturers. No own-brand mystery boxes.

We fit Worcester Bosch, Ideal and Navien, and nothing else. Every one of them has parts on a van within a day, and every one is a boiler a heating engineer would put in their own house.

Made in Hull since 1906

Ideal

5 models · 24 to 35kW · 10 to 12 year warranties

The value benchmark, and a far better boiler than the reputation it earned twenty years ago suggests. Logic Max is where most of the range sits; Vogue Max steps up to a stainless steel heat exchanger, a larger colour display and two more years of warranty.

Britain's most-fitted boiler

Worcester Bosch

7 models · 24 to 36kW · 7 to 12 year warranties

The longest guarantees of any make we fit, and the deepest parts network — which is what actually decides whether a February breakdown is a day or a week. The Greenstar line runs from the plainly-controlled 2000 up to the 8000+, and the warranty is on-site parts and labour throughout.

Navien

10 models · 18 to 54kW · 5 to 12 year warranties

The world's fourth-largest boiler maker, with a stainless steel heat exchanger on every model in the range — including the cheapest boiler on this whole site. The NCB300 and NCB500 share the shortest cabinet here, which is often the difference between fitting under a wall unit and re-planning the kitchen; the NCB700 puts out more hot water than anything else we fit.

The obvious question

"How can it be fixed if nobody has looked at it?"

Fair. Here is the honest answer, including the bit most online sellers leave out.

Because a swap is predictable

Taking a combi off a wall and putting a better one back is one of the most repeatable jobs in the trade. The variables that actually move the cost — what you have now, where the flue goes, how much hot water you need — are all things you can tell us from your kitchen. We do not need to stand in it.

Because we price the risk in, not out

A surveyor exists to find reasons to charge more. We have gone the other way: the awkward cases are already built into the price, so the straightforward jobs subsidise the fiddly ones. On average it works. On your job, it is fixed.

Horizontal and vertical fluesOut through a wall, or up through the roof. One metre horizontal is in every price; anything else is a visible line on your quote.

What we genuinely cannot price blind

Two things. Asbestos, which needs testing before anyone touches it. And a flue that cannot be safely reached from a ladder, which needs scaffold. Both are rare, both are excluded in writing, and if either turns up you get a full refund rather than a bill.

What happens if we got it wrong

If the job is harder than your answers suggested and the answers were honest, we absorb it. If something was not declared — a back boiler described as a combi, say — we stop, explain, and you choose: revised price or full refund. We do not start work and then negotiate.

Everything we touch

Not just the box on the wall.

A boiler is one part of a system. These are the bits that decide whether it actually works, and every one of them is drawn here rather than photographed from a catalogue.

Radiator and TRVA thermostatic valve on the flow side, a lockshield on the return. Forty-two pounds a valve if you want them adding.
Underfloor heatingLoops laid in screed over insulation. A low flow temperature and even heat, with nothing taking up wall space.
Magnetic system filterPlumbed into the return so iron never reaches the heat exchanger. Included as standard, because a warranty without one is usually void.
21°
Programmable thermostatIn every price, fitted and paired before we leave. Keeping your own smart stat instead costs nothing.

What you pay for

Fourteen things. All of them in the price.

Not a summary and not an “and more”. This is the whole kit that arrives on the van, and every one of these is a line somebody else would charge you for.

Questions

The things people actually ask

How can you give me a fixed price without seeing the boiler?+

Because a boiler swap is a far more predictable job than the industry likes to admit. Fifteen questions tell us the boiler type, the flue route, the hot water demand and the radiator count — and those four things determine almost the entire cost.

What they cannot tell us is whether there is asbestos behind the fire, or whether the flue can be reached from a ladder. Those are the only two things we exclude, and we say so plainly rather than burying them.

What if the job turns out to be different on the day?+

Then it is our problem, not yours — provided the answers you gave were accurate. That is the whole deal. We print every answer next to your price so there is no ambiguity about what was agreed.

If something genuinely was not declared and the job changes, we do not ambush you with a bill. We stop, explain, and you can either accept a revised price or walk away with a full refund. We would rather lose the job than have that argument in your kitchen.

Do I have to send photos?+

Not to get a price. You will see your number before you give us so much as a first name.

Once you have booked, we do ask for three photos — the boiler, the flue outside and the gas meter. It takes a minute and it is how we protect the fixed price for both of us. If you would rather not, ring us and we will send an engineer round instead.

How quickly can you fit it?+

Next working day installation is available wherever we have an engineer free in your area, and most jobs go in inside a week. You pick the date yourself on screen — the calendar only offers days we currently have an engineer for, so nothing you are shown is a maybe. We do not promise a date we have not shown you.

If your boiler has failed completely and you have no heating or hot water, say so on the phone. We keep capacity back for exactly that and will get to you sooner.

Is the price really everything?+

Yes. The number you see includes the boiler, the fitting, the flue, the filter, the flush, the thermostat, the carbon monoxide alarm, taking the old boiler away, your Gas Safe certificate, the warranty registration and VAT.

There is no call-out fee, no delivery charge, no 'materials' line and no congestion levy. If we quote it, that is what you pay.
