The housing here
Halifax is built in gritstone on some of the steepest ground in the region. Victorian terraces line the valley sides, there are substantial stone villas at Savile Park and Skircoat, and post-war estates sit on the higher ground.
The water here is soft, coming off the Pennine reservoirs. That is good news for a combi — scale is not the threat it is thirty miles east, and you do not need a scale reducer.
